My Inspiration
I want to share with you the inspiration for my Amigurumi creations shown in the picture. She is my youngest granddaughter, who at the time was 3 years old. Her imagination is so vivid that she can make anything an animated being. She fell in love with the Amigurumi that I create so much so that first thing when she came to my house, she visited my “yarn store”, her name for my craft room, to see if I had a new creation. Because she knew, that if she wanted it grandma couldn’t say “no” and the Amigurumi would go home with her. Easter of 2021, I made her a mermaid for in her Easter basket. She named the mermaid “Sweetie”. In her short life, Sweetie has traveled many miles and has been to many places. One time Sweetie was left in Germany with my granddaughter’s Omi and had to be mailed to the US (what a trauma). Sweetie has been a constant companion, a confidant, a playmate, and a sister. Four years have passed, and you might have guessed, Sweetie is somewhat bedraggled, a little dirty, and her stuffing is pushed around so some places are limp. I can say with assurance that Sweetie is well-loved just like “The Velveteen Rabbit” in the childhood story by Margery Williams.
